Independence and individualism are highly valued in the west but this is not the case in Asia, particularly India where the culture values interdependence over independence. The opposite might equally be true. This is certainly true at UH. Shrinking workforce. Consequently I would expect greater ethnic diversity in senior posts.

I think the comment about women is a red herring. There are many reasons why woman struggle to attain top jobs one article I saw suggested the same is true for men that are family focused.
